Over a Century of Service, Built on Integrity and Quality

W.T. Fary Brothers has been a part of the Gloucester County community since 1907. What started as a steam-powered sawmill in Ark, Virginia—founded by W.T. Fary and his brothers—has grown into a trusted, full-service lumber yard that’s still proudly located on Fary’s Mill Road today.

​

We specialize in quality lumber, moulding, doors, and windows—but what truly sets us apart is our commitment to service. Whether you're a contractor building a home or a homeowner working on a weekend project, we’re here to offer honest advice, dependable materials, and the kind of customer service that treats you like family.

OUR HISTORY​

Monroe Clayborne Truck. (1979)

Our roots in Gloucester go back to the late 1800s, when Thomas Pike Fary and his sons worked the land near the Beaverdam Swamp—cutting railroad ties, running a tannery, and farming the fields. In 1907, one of those sons, W.T. Fary, joined forces with his brothers to launch W.T. Fary Bros. Lumber Company.

They built their first sawmill and got to work hauling timber, supporting local builders, and helping the community grow. Our tools may be more modern now, but over a century later, that same dedication to hardwork, community, and craftsmanship still defines us today.
